I took Vande Bharat Express from Solapur, my home city, to Pune, a nearby metropolis, on 26th March 2023. This was a special occasion for me as these luxury, high-speed trains were launched only a month ago. They cut down around 25-50% of travel time of an average train journey. This blog is my journey experience jot down in few paragraphs. This is also my first public blog.

You might have been frustrated by the ways of electing an option democratically, not necessarily because of the outcome of the process, but because of the innate nature of the choice rule employed. In this blog, we will discuss what constitutes an ideal voting rule, and further use a prominent result in social choice theory that asserts the impossibility of such an ideal rule. As a consequence of this result, the nature of voting becomes inherently paradoxical, of which we will understand a few fascinating instances.

I have moved from places to places in my life. From my village to Solapur, then Solapur to Chennai and later to Delhi for work. Recently, I moved to Amherst for my Ph.D. In these hops, I have met many people, lived with different set of folks, have had both good and not so good interactions. With an ongoing transition in Amherst, in this post, I wanted to jot down few thoughts about how change of groups and places affects oneself personally, tell some of my own experiences, and a few random ideas about the dynamics behind this change.
